Send Nets to Save Lives in Cameroon
JCI joins the UN Foundation and other key partners to distribute insecticide-treated bed nets in Cameroon. In Cameroon, malaria remains the first cause of morbidity and mortality among the most vulnerable groups: pregnant women and children younger than 5. To combat this deadly disease, JCI Cameroon is joining forces with the UN Foundation, UNICEF and the Government of Cameroon to secure and distribute 10 million insecticide-treated nets. This project will enable widespread coverage in Cameroon, reaching more than 20 million people.

2011 JCI Cameroon National President Takor Takor has been an integral part of organizing this campaign. He believes the distribution of 10 million mosquito nets will reduce the presence of malaria across the country by 50 to 90 percent. As of now, 8.1 million nets have been purchased and are ready to be distributed.

“I ask for your support in helping us to close this gap of 1.9 million nets needed,” Takor said. We have never been this close to making a direct impact on the lives of millions of people.”

Besides the distribution of the nets, JCI Cameroon is also working on malaria awareness campaigns, educating people about the impact of the disease and ensuring the mosquito nets are used properly.

President Takor explains, “Your prompt response to this call would enable us to impact our country positively and help strengthen our organization not only in Cameroon, but also around the world.”

From July 25 to August 15, all JCI Nothing But Nets donations will go directly to purchasing nets for distribution in Cameroon. You can make donations through JCI Nothing But Nets or directly to the UN Foundation Nothing But Nets campaign.

President Takor reminds all JCI members, partners and friends, “No donation is too small to save a life, but remember with USD $10, you can send a net to Cameroon and save a life.”
